Natasha Jacobs is a composer, sound designer, sound engineer, songwriter, and performer from New York. Their work has won awards at Sundance, SXSW, and several other festivals.

 

Natasha's music draws inspiration from song cycles, pop artist’s most rejected albums, and the intangible. Their work has been described by STEREOGUM as "technically impressive, narratively immersive, tragically funny, and subtly dark,” and by NPR as “almost otherworldly…slightly spooky and often dramatic.” They have toured the US and Canada, and released two albums under the moniker Thelma. 

 

In 2023 Natasha was the composer, sound designer, and re-recording mixer for a short animated film Bug Diner which won a Jury award at both Sundance and SXSW. Additionally, Natasha was the sound designer and re-recording mixer for a Sci Fi short, Sam And The Universe, which was selected for NEWFEST 2023, an award winner at Indie Short Fest, and more.

 

They’ve worked extensively on charting and award winning documentary and narrative podcasts for companies such as VICE, iHeart Radio, and Lemonada Media.

 

Natasha has gained recognition for songwriting, performance, and production from publications such as NPR, Stereogum, Uproxx, GolfFlakePlaint, Bandcamp, Clash Magazine, Tiny Mix Tapes,  She Shreds Magazine & more.

 

Receiving a B.MUS from Purchase College, they've studied studio production and composition. Natasha has been mentored by Pulitzer Prize winning Composer, Du Yun and Emmy-nominated film composer, Nathan Halpern. They also studied with Audio Engineers such as Peter Denenberg, Jonathan Jetter, and Grammy Award Winning Silas Brown.
